The Opportunity
We are seeking a Part Time (34 Hour) Nocturnist Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join our Intensivist team at Cooley Dickinson Hospital. This is a nightshift role, 7:00pm to 7:00am, working 10-11 shifts per month. The shifts are not set, and the team collaborates to create a schedule that works for everyone. We are located on the CDH Main Campus at 30 Locust St, Northampton, MA 01060.
Responsibilities include:
- Actively managing patients in the ICU including basic ventilator management and management of shock.
- Performing histories and physicals for patients admitted from the ED and Critical Care consults from other hospital units.
- Responding to in-hospital emergencies including rapid responses, code blues, and massive transfusion protocols.
- Collaborating with attending ICU physician.
- Coordinating care with subspecialty consultants as needed.
- Cross-covering patients on the medical-surgical floor.
- Conducting various procedures including central lines, arterial lines, and intubations.
The NP/PA will support physicians, collaborate with consultants, nurses, case managers, and others to provide high-quality, efficient care for the ICU patients.
Qualifications
Education:
- Master’s degree in nursing or physician assistant studies required.
Experience:
- 2+ years of previous critical care experience strongly preferred.
Certification:
- Certified Massachusetts Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant licensure required upon hire.
