Job Summary: The Patient Services Assistant performs nursing, phlebotomy and patient care tasks under the general supervision of a professional nurse. Collects and processes blood and other laboratory specimens, performs EKG tracings, and maintains related records. Communicates and collaborates with other health care team members while attending to personal needs, safety, and comfort of patients. Performs a variety of other duties to assist staff, such as transporting patients and maintaining equipment and supplies.
Specifications: High school graduate or equivalent and completion of an approved Nursing Assistant Training program and phlebotomy course required. Must maintain a current R. I. Department of Health CNA license and CPR certification, and must hold certificate of completion of phlebotomy training program. Good telephone, interpersonal and writing skills essential, along with demonstrated ability to accurately relate technical information. Must be at least 18 years old. Must be proficient in the English language.
