Centra is continuing to grow, with plans to expand into a larger campus in the next few years. These plans include the construction of a new specialty office building, which will house the Brain and Spine programs along with other surgical specialists. In addition, a new 5-story patient care tower will house an additional 100 patients at Lynchburg General Hospital. The LGH ED will be replaced and incorporated as part of the new Northeast Tower. The new Emergency Department will include 71 treatment bays, five trauma bays and four imaging rooms. Enhancements will include a split flow model of care to expedite and enhance patient experience of care, an integrated EmPATH psychiatric patient space, super track/imaging/results lounge and improved connectivity and utilization of the ED observation unit.

About the Practice
Centra Medical Group has an opportunity for a Nurse Practitioner to join our Hematology Oncology group. Qualified candidates must possess a master's degree, current licensure, and a strong desire to make a difference in our patient’s lives by providing excellent compassionate care. Oncology experience is required.
This new and exciting position offers the opportunity to work with a talented team of oncologists and nurse practitioners, as well as a full staff of infusion oncology nurses, medical assistants and certified technologists with a full on-site lab. The position is full-time, Monday-Friday and primarily office-based. Future opportunity to assist oncologists in hospital rounding. Position will provide care in both our Lynchburg and Farmville clinics.
Job Summary Includes:
- Performing follow up visits and surveillance for those who have completed cancer treatment or are currently being managed for a hematologic condition.
- Initiating appropriate diagnostic and therapeutic medical interventions for those currently receiving chemotherapies or other therapies. Recognizing normal and abnormal laboratory, diagnostic findings and pathology involved.
- Completing episodic/acute visits as well as side effect management. Recognize emergent problems.
- Some management of chronic health conditions.
- Performing new hematology consults in coordination with the collaborative physician.
- Assistance in developing the new oncology care model to improve patient care and outcomes.
