Established and certified reproduction company is looking for a Veterinarian to join their reproduction center which handles bovine, caprine, equine and other species. Company has CSS certification status with the National Association of Animal Breeders (NAAB) and operates a American Embryo Transfer Association certified facility.
Primary Responsibilities
• Individual will be required to be knowledgeable of Certified Semen Services (CSS) requirements and maintain and oversee all necessary health records
• Staff veterinarian will be required to successfully complete AETA certification within one year
• Perform reproductive soundness exams for male and female animals
• Recover embryos via nonsurgical and surgical flush methods
• Transfer fresh and frozen-thawed ET and IVF embryos trans-cervically and laparoscopically
• Harvest oocytes for IVF using ultrasound-guided and laparoscopic aspiration
• Evaluate pregnancy status by rectal palpation and ultrasonography
• Determine fetal sex in utero with ultrasonography
• Artificially inseminate transcervically and laparoscopically
• Administer caudal epidural and anesthesia
• Monitor animal well-being during procedures
• Oversee pre-op and post-op care of animals
• Design and review superovulation and synchronization protocols
• Monitor health status of all animals housed at clinic
• Perform exams and provide necessary testing, paperwork and certification for interstate/global movement of animals and embryos
• Assist with laboratory work as needed (embryo search, semen preparation, etc.)
• Maintain supplies and equipment as required
• Complete and maintain accurate reports and paperwork
• Effectively communicate with multiple team members and/or clients
• Adhere to established standard operating procedures
• Report errors immediately to management
• Maintain a professional image at all times
• Participate in an emergency/on-call weekend schedule on a rotational basis
• Examine and administer treatments to sick or injured animals
Requirements
• Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree, USDA Accredited
• Licensed in Oklahoma, and ability to acquire KS, MO, AR, TX
• Valid driver’s license
• Passion for animal reproduction and strong desire to learn new skills
• Competency handling animals safely
• Willingness to do lab work as needed
• Ability to stand for extended periods of time
• Capable of performing work even in adverse weather conditions
• Willingness to travel and available to work some weekends as needed
• Ability to receive and humbly accept constructive criticism
• Dedicated team player
• Strong attention to detail
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Fundamental computer skills (email, MS Word, MS Excel, etc.)
This full-time, salaried position is available immediately. There will be a required 4 to 6 -week training and observation period following job acceptance. During this time, the candidate will receive extensive training in our specific procedures and will be evaluated for his/ her compatibility with our team. Salary will be commensurate with experience and benefit eligibility will be determined following completion of the training period. Due to the nature work with animals, early mornings and late evenings will sometimes be required.
