The Perioperative RN applies the nursing process to individuals and families of all ages experiencing alterations in health status associated with the perioperative experience, surgery/procedures/sedation/anesthetic interventions as appropriate. The Perioperative RN’s scope includes, but is not limited to, the preadmission assessment/process, intraoperative scrubbing, and circulating. The position includes postoperative follow-up to include the management of patients undergoing moderate sedation and assisting in procedures as required. Requires excellent critical thinking, communication, and Perioperative specific skills/practices consistent with ASPAN, AORN, and regulatory standards. BSN and CNOR certification strongly preferred. Weekend Duty / Holiday Rotation
EDUCATION, TRAINING & EXPERIENCE
A minimum of two (2) years of recent experience circulating the OR in an acute care setting, current Emergency Room experience will be considered if a training position is posted. Must be able to meet all of the requirements of a circulating RN in an acute care OR and must be able to circulate independently on general, orthopedic, GYN, GU, eye, and other OR/GI cases required in current services as well as new added service lines. Strongly prefer candidates that have recent experience scrub and circulating, along with moderation sedation and GI experience. Ability to competently First Assist/scrub cases in an acute care OR preferred. Must be a graduate of an accredited school of nursing with a current RN license in Washington. BSN, ACLS, and CNOR certification strongly preferred; additional compensation is available. Required to maintain active BLS certification.
