The Physician of the Planned Parenthood Southwest Ohio Region (PPSWO) affiliate will work under the supervision of the Medical Director to provide direct patient care to support clinical service expansion especially related to abortion care. For direct patient care, we are recruiting an ob-gyn to provide abortion care.The Physician will work in collaboration with all health care team members to provide quality reproductive health care to Planned Parenthood patients in accordance with PPSWO medical standards and guidelines. The staff physician will also model professional behaviors and serve as a supervising provider of mid-level licensed professionals.

REPORTS TO: Surgical Director STATUS: Exempt (Full or Part Time)
JOB SUMMARY:
Provides abortion consultation services and appropriate follow-up care. Responsible in collaboration with colleagues for medical management of abortion services.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
1.Performs physical exams including abdominal and vaginal ultrasound. Provide the following services according to a schedule determined by senior leadership as determined by ASF governing body privileges.
a.Procedural abortion
b.Medication abortion
c.Placement of osmotic dilators
d.Injection of Digoxin
e.Moderate sedation
f.Long Acting Reversible Contraception (LARC) insertion
2.Responsible for reviewing and evaluation of products of conception, recovery room care, medication orders, laboratory, and patient discharge.
3.Responsible for ensuring proper evaluation and management of patients for pre-op consults including compliance with all state and federal laws and regulations.
4.Provides telephone or on-site consultation to Surgical Center staff and physicians. Provides 24-hour call in rotation with other PPSWO surgery providers. Assures that all complications are handled appropriately.
5.Assists in abortion training for medical residents and students under written agreement between PPSWO and collaborating institutions. Assists in the development and revision of training protocols.
6.Participates in the quality assurance process, assuring compliance with PPSWO medical protocols, policies and procedures. Adheres to all applicable laws and regulations regarding abortions,. Assures quality of medical services provided by nurses and support staff.
7.Utilize PPSWO’s practice management system and electronic medical record system effectively.
8.Assists in preparation and revision of clinical protocols and procedures.
9.Fully participates in health center efforts to provide highest quality services, improve clinic flow and reduce patient wait time.
10.Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORKING CONDITIONS:
Ability to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, sit, talk, hear, stand, bend, walk; use hands and fingers, handle or operate objects, reach with hands and arms; climb and balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and use repetitive motions of the hands and wrists.
Ability to get to the work site; also other PPSWO health centers and meetings when required.
May be exposed to communicable diseases and blood and body fluids that may contain HIV and/or HBV.
May be exposed to cleaning chemicals and offensive odors.

Knowledge and Skill Requirements- Current Ohio medical license required.
- ACLS Certification.
- Residency and board certification in OB/GYN or Family Medicine strongly preferred.
- Must have DEA certification
- Experience in reproductive health care and abortion services required.

- Must be flexible to work center hours including evenings and/or Saturdays. Be available after center hours by telephone.
$105 - $115 an hour
Salary commensurate with experience and ranges from $105-115/hour.
