POSITION PURPOSE
- Render comprehensive care to patients in assigned areas and participate in related activities. Plan care and activities, implementing and documenting same.

- Complete orientation program and on-going education in accordance with established policies and procedures.
- During orientation, perform duties as defined by Service Directors, educational staff.
- Perform other duties as determined by service director.
- Serves as resource to newly hired staff, supplemental staff, and pulled staff.
- May be required to rotate shifts.
- Perform Behavioral Health unit-specific Crisis Prevention Intervention skills (verbal de-escalation, holds, restraint, seclusion, (Post intervention).
- Accountable for care provided by Licensed Practical Nurses, Behavioral Health Technicians, Behavioral Health Specialists, and Nurse Externs.
- Directly accountable to the Department Managers. Incidental supervision by House Supervisor.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION
Successful completion of a training program for registered nurses. Current license with the Illinois Department of Professional Regulation. Responsible for decisions and actions within the scope of nursing process as defined by the Nurse Practice Act of the State of Illinois.
EXPERIENCE
Demonstrate an understanding of the physical, social and psychological needs of adult and geriatric patients. Demonstrate the ability to deliver care to these patients.
LICENSES/CERTIFICATES
Current registered nurse license with the Illinois Department of Professional Regulation. Must have American Heart Association or American Red Cross Basic Life Support certification prior to hire. Must have current certification in Crisis Prevention (CPI) or complete within 30 days of hire. Must obtain competency in restraint, seclusion and take downs upon hire and ongoing training.
