SUMMARY:
The Radiologic Tech I (Xray Tech I) is responsible for accurately positioning patients and ensuring that a quality diagnostic image is produced. They work closely with radiologists, the physicians who interpret medical images to either diagnose or rule out disease or injury. 6 hour shifts.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
- Maximize utilization of x-ray services
- Prepare patient and documentation for diagnostic testing
- Obtain EMR charts and orders of x-rays to be done on patient
- Take patient to x-ray room; make sure patient is properly dressed in gown, jewelry off, etc.
- Flip out proper patient room flag indicating that x-rays have been completed
- Ensure physician needs are met to increase resource utilization
- Query physicians about their needs
- Educate physicians concerning services provided
Ensure Customer Satisfaction:
- Perform diagnostic test
- Position patient for x-rays to be taken; set correct technique to be used for procedure
- Complete x-ray series and take patient back to room
- Ensure film is developed; send to PACS for doctor review
- Take all x-ray requests by other departments
- Assist doctors in various duties when needed as assigned
- Provide superior service to ensure customer satisfaction with patient/provider
Prepare and Maintain the Exam Room, Supplies, and Equipment:
- Clean x-ray rooms daily, including tables, upright buckys, all knobs, chairs, stools, sink and counters
- Change linens
- Disinfect as needed
- Refill soaps
- Ensure exam rooms are clean and ready for each patient
- Ensure all x-ray equipment is maintained and functioning properly
- Order all needed supplies as assigned
- Perform regular maintenance on x-ray equipment
Appointment Efficiency and Volume:
- Maximizing Volume and Appointment Efficiency through work-ins and communicating availability in schedule
- Improvement process in Total completed exams vs Total In Complete exams
Perform Administrative Duties as Directed:
- Answer phone and questions efficiently
- Take messages and follow through when patients are finished
- Make CDs for patients requesting their films to take to other facilities or for their personal use
- Ensure that a release has been signed for patients requesting their x-rays
- Prepare surgery lists for each doctor
- Ensure doctors are satisfied with all films taken
- Send films to hospital or SCP on day of surgery
- Check daily for cancellations or add-ons as assigned
- Assist in training personnel
- Keep up-to-date on state regulations for safety and equipment, including state regulation policy manual
- Mail back all outside films that patients leave here
- Work at satellite clinics as assigned
- Timeliness for charge entry, imaging 24 hour turnaround time
- Accuracy of charge entry, checking edits
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- One year of experience preferred
- Graduation from a Certified Radiologic Technology program
- CRT and ARRT Certification
- Current BCLS certification
- Ability to conduct quality control studies
- Ability to use computerized radiologic equipment
- Ability to operate a computer for recordkeeping purposes
- Ability to establish effective working relationships with patients and staff
