CT Technologist

General Summary:
Under the direction of the Site Manager and CT Scan Supervisor, demonstrates competency and actively functions in CT/General Radiology procedures.
Responsibilities:
- Prepares procedure room and patient for all studies.
- Properly disinfect all equipment after each patient, following cleaning policies and protocols.
- Dispose of and replace all dirty linen after every patient.
- Monitor patient flow for efficient daily operations.
- Educate patients regarding ordered procedures and answer any related questions.
- Obtain patient history and written consent for exams.
- Verify patient information and check for appropriate ICD-9/10 codes.
- Utilize appropriate patient safety screening/consent forms to ensure all safety precautions have been addressed prior to procedure.
- Perform procedures in accordance with established protocols.
- Position patients and select appropriate equipment necessary to accomplish procedures based on the patient's age and physical capabilities.
- Monitor patients during procedures; notify Radiologist of reactions or problems.
- Assist the radiologists when necessary.
- Minimize patient discomfort.
- Demonstrate competency on all general diagnostic imaging equipment in CT.
- Ensure quality images for all completed procedures prior to releasing patients by reviewing films or sending images to the PACS System.
- Maintain imaging QA’s of less than 2% per month.
- Carry out duties and assume responsibility for portions of the quality assurance program, as directed by the equipment vendors.
- Maintain competence with HIS, RIS, PHS, and PACS.
- Run a pending work report daily to ensure all exams have been properly charged.
- Track and report PACS and HIS errors on PI reports following the QA policy.
- Maintain an individual error rate of less than 2%.
- Maintain adequate supplies.
- Stock the room at the beginning of each shift and throughout the day to ensure readiness for procedures.
- Report all items that fall below par level to the designated person.
- Perform all other duties as assigned within the scope and range of job responsibilities.
Required Education, Credential(s) and Experience:
Education: Associate Degree in Radiologic Technology, Basic Life Support
Credential(s): DE RRT Cert, ARRT Registered Technologist
Experience:
Required: 1 year of Radiology experience, or new grad with completion of accredited CT program
Preferred: CT Scan experience
Specialty: Diagnostic Imaging
Sub Specialty(s): CT Technologist
Minimum Years of Experience: 1
