Job Summary: Seeking a highly engaged advanced practice provider to join the advanced Cardio-Onc group within the cardiovascular specialty division, including responsibilities in both outpatient and inpatient settings. This position will be required to order medications and procedures within their scope of practice.
Responsibilities:
Essential Functions:
- Assess the physical condition of assigned patients by performing physical examinations and obtaining medical histories.
- Formulate the medical plan based on the patient’s condition.
- Consult with other providers as needed regarding patient health care plans and treatment.
- Order, interpret, and evaluate diagnostic tests to identify and assess the patient’s health care needs.
- Order consultations and interact with members of other specialty medical teams.
- Initiate and/or recommend medical drug therapies or other forms of related therapeutic treatment and procedures in accordance with approved protocols/policy.
- Comply with medical records policies regarding the complete and accurate documentation of patient care. Initiate and maintain required records and legal documents.
- Participate in quality improvement activities.
- Counsel patients, families, and significant others about health and illness, and promote health maintenance.
- Evaluate, plan, implement, and re-evaluate the care of individuals requiring emergency measures.
- Participate in continuing medical education activities.
- Assist in the collection of data for research projects.

- Demonstrate leadership, teaching, research, and communication skills.
- Ability to provide care appropriate to the population served.
Minimum Qualifications:
Required:
- Licensure to practice as a Nurse Practitioner in the State of Utah.
Preferred:
- Certification in ACLS / BLS / NRP / ATLS may be required by your department or by privileging criteria.
- Utah State prescriptive privileges.
- Licensure is obtained by completing a Master’s degree in Nursing or equivalency (the only equivalency to the Master’s degree is current licensure as a Nurse Practitioner) and a National Certification which requires the successful completion of a nationally accredited examination.
- UHPPM 1-56 requires that newly hired non-physician providers apply for credentialing and privileging at the time of hire.
- This position is patient-sensitive and must fulfill all associated requirements.
