Position Purpose:
The Dean of Nursing and Allied Health plans, directs, and coordinates academic operations of the College of Nursing. The Dean is directly responsible to the President and serves as a member of the President’s Cabinet. The Dean advises the President on academic affairs and is the spokesperson for the faculty, program leaders, and academic support structures regarding academic and continuing education offerings, budget proposals, and academic policies. The Dean provides management and strategic direction for advancing continuous improvement initiatives, develops and implements strategic and operational plans in partnership with the President, Program Directors, Student Affairs, and Finance, and aligns with institutional priorities/initiatives. The Dean is accountable for academic performance and quality and compliance, ensures effective operation of academic departments, resource management, system changes, faculty and staff development, and continuous improvement. The Dean supports the college President in accomplishing organizational strategy and goals and builds critical, strategic relationships with internal (i.e., faculty, students, staff) and external (i.e., community members, alumni, MCHS, and other strategic partners) stakeholders as appropriate. The Dean serves as the chief executive officer of the College in the President’s absence.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Education: Earned Doctorate in nursing or related discipline with master’s degree in nursing
- License / Certification: Current RN license in Ohio
- Minimum 24 months experience as Faculty in a pre-licensure RN program.
- Demonstrated academic leadership experience; Teaching experience in undergraduate/graduate nursing programs; Must qualify for faculty appointment.
