Education and Experience
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
- Required: High School or GED
- Preferred: 3 years of hospital-related experience desirable.
CERTIFICATION, LICENSURE, REGISTRATION
- Minimum: Basic Life Support (BCLS) required or to be obtained within 6 months of hire. Failure to obtain may result in termination of employment.

Essential Duties
- Safely transports surgical patients to and from the operating room.
- Cleans the OR Suites and equipment following hospital approved policies and procedures.
- Assists with positioning and prepping patients within the OR.
- Obtains equipment/supplies for the OR Staff and returns them to their proper storage place when no longer in use.
- Maintains stocking levels within the OR of items not stocked by distribution.
- Performs specimen hand-off safely. Understands proper handling of all specimens.
- Opens sterile supplies and instruments as directed by the OR Staff.
Essential Duties, Anesthesia Support (advanced)
- In conjunction with Clinical Engineering (Bio-Med), responsible for maintaining anesthesia equipment needed for patient care within the surgical suite and Pre-Anesthesia Care Area.
- Stocks non-controlled medications in the OR and delivers non-controlled medications to the OR Suite/Pre-Op Holding at the request of licensed personnel.
- Removes and re-supplies equipment between procedures and properly cleans/disinfects/sterilizes per hospital procedure (Infection Control/safety/Anesthesia).
- Maintains department stock levels of gas tanks stored in the anesthesia supply rooms.
- Maintains orderliness of anesthesia workroom/storage rooms.
- Takes "on-call" for weekends as needed by the department.
- Supports anesthesia services in non-operating room locations (Cath Lab, Interventional Radiology, MRI).
- Performs glucometer control checks.
Essential Duties, Retractor Holder (advanced)
- Holds surgical retractors under direct supervision of the surgeon.
- Demonstrates knowledge of aseptic technique.
- Demonstrates the ability to scrub, gown, and glove.
