The Work Unit: Division of Disease Control and Public Health Response (DCPHR)The Division of Disease Control and Public Health Response (DCPHR) exists to ensure that the Department has the ability to effectively monitor, detect, diagnose, prepare for, and nimbly respond to, all types of conditions and events that impact the public’s health.
What You Will Be Doing: This position possesses a specialized and unique level of knowledge and expertise which is that of a professional infection preventionist in hospital, nursing home, and outpatient clinical settings. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
HAI Prevention in Special settings- This position is authorized by the HAI/AR Program Manager to provide setting-specific infection prevention expertise and perform proactive infection prevention assessments in licensed healthcare facilities.
- This position has expertise in infection prevention to perform proactive infection prevention assessments in healthcare facilities.
- This position performs the majority of assessments in these special settings, including phone consultations and on-site assessments (travel required).
- This position is responsible for maintaining relationships with internal and external partners.
- This position develops plans for outreach, education, outbreak surveillance, reporting, and proactive infection prevention efforts.
Outbreak and Exposure Event Response- As the Staff Authority, this position provides setting-specific infection prevention expertise during healthcare associated infection (HAI) outbreak investigations.
- This position works collaboratively with other infection preventionists in the Prevention and Response Unit.
Infection Prevention Projects/Education for Outpatient Hemodialysis Facilities and Special Settings- This position performs other infection prevention projects as directed by the Prevention and Response Unit Manager.
Minimum Qualifications: An applicant may meet the minimum qualifications for this job in one of two ways:
Work Experience:Seven (7) years of relevant experience in epidemiology, healthcare, public health, or other closely related experience.
OR:Education and Work Experience: A combination of related education from an accredited institution and relevant experience equal to seven (7) years.
