NO LOCAL CANDIDATES (no candidates within 50-mile radius)
MUST pass EKG Exam at Orientation (Study Guide Available in Simplify Library)
Prefer recent experience of 1+ years or longer if not in last 6-12 months.
Strong cardiac experience required.
Experience with PA Catheters and CRRT required.
Experience with Impella, IABP, ECMO (VA or VV) preferred.
BLS, ACLS, NIHSS required.
Required to work every other weekend and every other major holiday.
12-Hr Nights.
Unit Specific Details
8-Bed CVICU
Candidates will take primarily POD day 1-3 CABG and valve. Some medical overflow. Some patients may have SDU orders awaiting bed placement on SDU. Also, advanced heart failure, some post-cath (very limited) and occasional post vascular surgery. Candidates may take POD 0 patients who came up from surgery earlier in the day, but there is no expectation to recover from the OR.
Unit sees an average 1-3 CABG's per day and about 7-8 per week.
Patient Population: Cardiac bypass, cardiac surgery >18.
Scrubs: Navy blue, white, or any combination of the two colors.

The Critical Care Registered Nurse (RN) provides, coordinates, plans, and evaluates the care of the patient in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team and within established the nursing process framework. Evaluation is done through data collection, assessment, identification, and prioritization of patient problems/needs including evaluating process/outcome of nursing care, interventions, and teaching. The RN coordinates, provides, and directs patient teaching activities and coordinates the care provided by health team members.
Essential Job Functions:
- Conducts and analyzes initial and ongoing patient assessment, creates a plan of care, implements treatment, and evaluates treatment effectiveness.
- Administers medications in a safe manner consistent with the State of Practice and Bon Secours Mercy Health policies and procedures.
- Serves as point of contact for patient's care coordination throughout hospital departments.
- Acts as a patient safety advocate by participating in ongoing quality improvement in the department and collaborates with spiritual care, palliative, and ethics when needed.
- Performs nursing care associated with life supporting technology/modalities.
- Clinically manages critically ill patients with multi-system organ failure and/or multisystem trauma.
- Anticipates and responds with confidence and adapts to rapidly changing patient conditions.

Licensing/Certification:
Current RN license in state they are working or covered by compact (required). BLS Basic Life Support (preferred upon hire, must obtain from approved source prior to direct patient care). ACLS Advanced Cardiac Life Support (required within 6 months of hire).
Education:
Bachelor of Science Nursing (preferred).
Work Experience:
1 year of RN experience (required). 6 months RN experience in a Med/Surg, Critical Care, Stepdown, or Emergency Department Unit (preferred).
Skills:
Strong interpersonal and verbal/written communication skills.
Working Conditions:
Periods of high stress and fluctuating workloads may occur.
