The CT State Community College is developing a pool of applicants for potential part-time Clinical Instructor-Nursing positions (Up to 17 hours per week).
These positions are on continuous recruitment and are filled on an as-needed basis, depending on specific department needs. Position Summary:
The Community College system offers two-year liberal arts degree programs and a broad range of career, occupational and technical certificate and non-credit programs in order to meet the varied learning needs of the populations served.
Example of Job Duties:
Under the direction of Program Director, the clinical educational assistant is responsible for the supervision, instruction, and evaluation of nursing students in the clinical agency and clinical laboratory setting by effective performance in these essential duties:
- Teach in accordance with approved course description, learning outcomes, and schedule.
- Correlate clinical education with didactic education.
- Conduct clinical and laboratory experiences at specified times in the schedule in accordance with program policy for method of training.
- Provide virtual and simulation instructional support in collaboration with course faculty.
- Provide instruction in the clinical setting, including pre and post conferences.
- Provide educational opportunities that benefit students throughout the learning process.
- Incorporate principles of learning in the planning and implementation of clinical instruction.
- Document and issue conference reports and referrals to students per program policies.
- Accurately complete students’ clinical performance documents and submit all documentation at the conclusion of the course to the Course Leader.
The physical demands of this position are consistent with the demands of someone working as a nurse in the field. These include, but are not limited to, standing for extended periods of time, lifting, moving, and manipulating patients and equipment, and quickly responding to emergency situations. Incumbents travel to multiple clinical instruction sites and need to be able to drive a private passenger automobile or arrange for alternative transportation.
Minimum Qualifications:
Master’s degree in Nursing with two (2) or more years of clinical experience; or a combination of education, training, and experience that is equivalent and in compliance with the State Board of Nursing regulations and program accreditation standards. Unencumbered Registered Nurse licensure in the State of Connecticut required.
Successful Candidate must have or must possess:
- Proficiency in the skills and knowledge related to the assigned area of nursing practice.
- Clinical instruction, supervision, and evaluation.
- Use of various assessment methods to evaluate student performance in clinical settings.
- Comprehensive familiarity with accreditation standards in assigned discipline.
- Evidence of compliance with all clinical placement requirements, which may include background and toxicology screenings.
- Compliance with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA).
Candidates must possess proven ability to effectively work with culturally, linguistically, and ethnically diverse faculty, staff, and students. Experience with reflective, interactive, culturally responsive pedagogical teaching techniques. They are expected to have excellent oral and written communication skills along with strong Information technology literacy skills such as Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, etc.).
Preferred Qualifications:
- Current clinical experience in acute care medical surgical nursing or in a nursing practice specialty that meets nursing program needs.
- Clinical teaching experience in an academic setting.
Salary:
$105.86 hourly.
