About Us
South West Healthcare's Portland Adult Mental Health and Wellbeing Service provides specialised mental health support for adults aged 18-65 who are experiencing major mental illnesses. As a multidisciplinary and integrated team, we offer a wide range of services, including crisis assessment, intervention, and both short- and long-term, evidence-based, recovery-focused care.
About the role
The Mental Health Clinician (MHC) will be responsible for providing recovery-oriented and trauma-informed management utilising natural and existing community supports.
The Community Adult teams provide mental health assessments and treatment services to consumers, which includes direct engagement-based treatment inclusive of the person with the identified mental health concern along with carers and services, aimed to provide individual biological, psychological and social interventions based on the consumers expressed needs and goals.
As a Mental Health Clinician (MHC) you will:
- Conduct mental health screenings, assessments, and provide individualised recovery and treatment planning.
- Maintain a caseload, offering direct clinical treatment and evidence-based interventions to consumers, families, and carers.
- Deliver outreach support in various environments, ensuring consumer-centered care.
- Collaborate within a multidisciplinary team and coordinate referrals as needed.
- Foster community partnerships and contribute to service integration, education, and development initiatives.
- Participate in service improvement projects, maintain accurate electronic records, and uphold professional standards.
- Engage in ongoing training, clinical supervision, and professional development activities.

What you bring
The successful applicant will demonstrate excellent team building skills with experience in mental health clinical services an advantage.
Excellent written, communication and interpersonal skills and initiative with proven ability to work autonomously as well as an ability to work with limited direction, be self-motivated, and provide effective problem-solving and negotiation skills.
You're proactive, flexible, and resilient and happy to work autonomously, use your initiative, and have a high attention to detail.
You will be a Registered Psychiatric Nurse with registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency as a registered nurse and have at least 2 years' experience in the provision of mental health services.
It would be desirable to have a Post Graduate Diploma in Mental Health Nursing or completion of a specialist undergraduate Mental Health Nursing program.

- Salary Range: $100,932.00 - $112,091.20 per annum, pro rata, plus superannuation
