SUMMARY:
We are currently seeking a Mental Health Professional Intern to join our Psychiatry Clinic team. This part-time role will work 40 hours within a 2-week pay period.
Purpose of this position: Under the clinical supervision of a mental health professional, the intern will provide direct mental health services including diagnostic assessment, psychotherapy, psychoeducation, and other rehabilitative mental health services to persons living with mental illness. Will also complete treatment plans, and other screening including functional assessments and level of care assessments.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide mental health services including initial and ongoing screening, diagnostic assessment, treatment planning (including regular updates), psychoeducation, psychotherapy services, crisis services, referrals, and discharge/termination planning.
- Incorporates family/caregivers, other healthcare providers, and other community professionals as indicated.
- Attends all meetings as required.
- Actively participates in regularly scheduled supervision, and attends other educational activities as required by the supervisor or field education office.
- Complies with timely documentation and billing requirements for all rendered services including direct and indirect care.
- Assists in maintaining compliance with all accrediting, licensing, regulatory, managed care, and governmental agency standards and requirements (e.g., American Psychological Association, applicable MN Health Licensing Boards, the Department of Human Services, the Department of Health, the Joint Commission, CMS).
- Performs other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum Qualifications:
- Meets the DHS definition for Mental Health Practitioner (See MN Statute 245I.04, Subd. 4 (b)(5)) qualified as a Clinical Trainee (See MN Statute 245I.04 Subd 6 (a)(1)).
AND
- Is enrolled in an accredited graduate program of study to prepare them for independent licensure as a mental health professional and is in the process of completing a practicum or internship for that graduate training program in social work, marriage and family therapy, or counseling.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working with persons living with mental illnesses, and chemical dependency.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Ability to provide psychotherapy to patients and families; ability to recognize and document patient progress.
- Ability to work cooperatively with other members of the multidisciplinary clinical team.
- Ability to interact with individuals of widely diverse lifestyles including ability to deal objectively with individuals whose attitudes and behaviors differ from their own.
- Ability to read and interpret written instructions, patient charts, and physicians' notes.
- Ability to use computer systems, including electronic medical records, along with working knowledge of Microsoft Office Products (Outlook, etc.).
