JOB SUMMARY
Provides distributive pharmacy services, assistance and support for the registered pharmacist. Functions in a technician role as the Lead Technician. The Lead Pharmacy Technician is responsible for leading and managing a team of assistants – Pharmacy Technicians, non-certified, certified (designated CPT I, II, III), and pharmacy buyer-purchaser. This role requires ensuring operational activities are carried out smoothly in the pharmacy and in any/all external areas managed by the pharmacy department. Duties can include staffing, training, inventory management, supervising tasks, and focusing on customer satisfaction.
Minimum Education
High school diploma or equivalent required
Minimum Work Experience: Five Years, Lead or Supervisory Role preferred
Required Licenses
Pharmacy Technician
Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) AND Two certification from the following:
- Supply Chain Management
- Billing and Reimbursement
- Sterile Compounding
- Non-Sterile Compounding
- Hazardous Drugs - Handling
- Medication Reconciliation
- Onboarding
- Operations
- Regulatory Compliance
- Controlled Substance Diversion Prevention - Management
- Software Certifications
- If available, EHR certificate
- If available, Automated Dispensing Cabinet certificate
Refills and maintains automated dispensing systems.
Fills medication carts on a daily basis.
Prepares orders and maintains inventory for the pharmacy department.
Repackages bulk medications.
Perform Sterile Compounding, Non-Sterile Compounding, Handling of Hazardous Medications.
Manages medication safety processes and assists in maintaining integrity of all storage requirements within the pharmacy and external of the main pharmacy, i.e., care area medication rooms, material management, Unit Inspections, etc.
Ability to supervise technicians in day-to-day operations.
Manage technician scheduling.
Conduct audits as directed by the Pharmacy Director.
