Job Title: Major League Physical Therapist
Reports To: Major League Head Athletic Trainer
Job Purpose: Doctor of Physical Therapy committed to promoting the health and performance of the Cincinnati Reds players and staff with the goal of winning World Series Championships. This individual will provide care to the active roster players and assist with the Physical Therapy needs of the Major League club.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist in the medical supervision of the Cincinnati Reds players.
- Assist in rehabilitation of the Cincinnati Reds players.
- Provide treatment and rehabilitation of athletic injuries.
- Assist in coordinating annual physical examinations.
- Maintain athlete's training and medical records.
- Assist in selection of protective equipment.
- Prepare all athletic facilities and supplies for practices.
- Supervise the use of training rooms and equipment.
- Maintain training room records and filing system.
- Assist in the development and implementation of conditioning, weight training, and cardiovascular training programs.
- Support and assist with drug testing.
- Ensure compliance with Occupational Safety and Health Administration regulations.
- Perform related duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Independent judgment and ability to multitask is required to plan, prioritize, and organize diversified workload.
- Strong work ethic and willingness to work long, flexible hours including weekends and holidays.
- Must be trustworthy and comfortable with managing sensitive information.
- High level of interpersonal skills and be able to effectively communicate with a wide range of departments, seniority levels, and personalities.
- Knowledge of a variety of computer software applications in word processing, spreadsheets, database, and presentation software (Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
Experience, Education, and Licensure:
- Doctor of Physical Therapy Degree required.
- Certified Athletic Trainer certification preferred.
- Orthopedic or Sports Clinical Specialist preferred.
- CPR Certification required.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Physical Therapist in professional or collegiate sports.
- Ability to obtain Physical Therapy licensure in Ohio.
Requirements:
- Spoken and written fluency in English.
- Ability to travel within the United States.
- Willing to relocate. Position is based in Cincinnati, OH during the regular season.
- Adhere to Cincinnati Reds Organization Policies and Procedures.
- Act as a role model within and outside the Cincinnati Reds Organization.
- Perform duties as workload necessitates.
- Demonstrate flexible and efficient time management and ability to prioritize workload.
- Willingness to learn. Open to new methodologies.
