Position: Hospital Charge Specialist
Location: Remote for residents of VA or North Eastern North Carolina
Position Status: Full-time, Day Shift
Standard Working Hours: 8:00AM to 5:00PM (ET). Weekends required--every other weekend (Saturday-Sunday or Tues-Saturday)
Overview:
Sentara Health is seeking to hire a qualified individual to join our team. This position is responsible for complete, compliant, and timely daily charge capture of ED departmental chargeable medication administration, bedside services, and other lines of service as assigned. Responsibilities include ensuring all appropriate billing charges are being captured, documented, charged, and reimbursed for the assigned department. This role requires an understanding of medical terminology, CPT/HCPCS guidelines, and Medicare regulatory guidelines.
Minimum Requirements:
- Associates degree preferred.
- One or more years' experience in Charge Description Master, Hospital Billing, Charge Capture, or Outpatient Coding preferred.
- CPC/COC/CCA/CCS certification required within 1 year of hire.

- HS - High School Grad or Equivalent (Required)
- Certified Coding Associate (CCA) - Certification - Other/National
- Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) - Certification - American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA)
- Certified Professional Coder (CPC) - Certification - American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC)
- Certified Professional Coder Hospital (CPCH) - Certification - Other/National
