General Assignments Reporter - Wasilla, Alaska
The Mat-Su Valley Frontiersman is currently recruiting for the position of a General Assignments Reporter who can enhance our community coverage on multiple platforms.
The Frontiersman publishes a print edition three times per week and an online daily that serves a region the size of West Virginia with more than 100,000 residents. The area is known for offering a variety of outdoor activities ranging from camping, hiking, biking, and fishing in the summer, to skiing and snow machining in the winter.
The Mat-Su is less than an hour's drive from Anchorage, Alaska's largest city. There are benefits of both a small-town atmosphere and close proximity to the big city. In less than an hour, residents can find outdoor adventure or some of Alaska's most popular restaurants and shopping options.
We are in search of a versatile general assignments reporter with a broad skill set to add to our newsroom. Applicants must have a passion for community journalism and the ability to offer a variety of coverage including news, features, events, sports, and the outdoors. Candidates must also have the ability to shoot and edit their own photos, and assist with multimedia and social media, special projects, and our daily newsletter.
Minimum Requirements:
- At least three years of experience in print journalism.
- A degree in journalism, communications, or a related program.
