ResponsibilitiesPOSITION SUMMARY: Provides clinical services to psychiatric inpatient and partial hospitalization (PHP) patients and their families. Completes psychosocial evaluations, facilitates group therapy, individual, couple, and family therapy, and discharge planning/linkage with aftercare services. Serves as a member of the interdisciplinary team. Attends appropriate clinical staffings on behalf of patients and their families.
- Lead multidisciplinary treatment team in developing a treatment plan for each patient and document services performed in the client record.
- Provides individual and family therapy as prescribed by treatment plans. Therapeutic orientation shall be consistent with a best practice approach to addressing identified client needs.
- Provides group therapy and clinically focused group activities consistent with client needs. Group therapeutic orientation shall be consistent with a best practice approach to facilitating group therapy.
- Assists in the development of milieu activities, educational groups and therapeutic groups and supports the implementation of therapeutic activities on the treatment units.
- Coordinates the development of a therapeutic milieu through an honest, supportive and structured approach to care.
- Stays informed of relevant community treatment resources likely to impact the clientele including but not limited to the Department of Human Services, Illinois State Board of Education and Illinois Department of Children and Family Services.
- Participates in program planning (recommends curriculum, program changes, etc) with unit staff and supervisors.
- Develops referral resources and maintains regular contact including parents and guardians of residential clients.
- Utilizes knowledge and skills related to crisis intervention and verbal de-escalation in order to provide a safe environment for patients, visitors and staff.
QualificationsEducation: Master’s degree in the human services field (counseling, psychology, social work).
Experience: Previous professional experience in a behavioral health setting preferred.
