Salary Range: $27.88 - $42.90/hour. Actual compensation may vary based on geographic location, work experience, skill level, and education.
Under the direction of the Site Supervisor or Site Manager, the LVN provides care within the scope of the Vocational Nurse Practice Act and regulatory standards. Responsibilities include assisting in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care, maintaining a safe patient care environment, and collaborating with other healthcare disciplines to ensure quality care. The patient population includes young adults to geriatric patients with a variety of conditions.
Essential Functions
- Organize and incorporate new routines, procedures, and skills.
- Skillfully use equipment and devices pertinent to treatment, procedures, and practices.
- Communicate changes in the patient's condition to the registered nurse and physician.
- Follow proper procedures in patient identification prior to implementing any interventions.
- Provide appropriate information for patient procedures and ensure understanding prior to starting.
- Respond to emergency situations in a timely manner.
- Administer medications and assess indications, appropriate dosing, and effects.
- Collect, handle, and label specimens utilizing Standard Precautions.
- Adhere to Infection Control policies and procedures.
- Implement prescribed interventions to ensure pain management.
- Recognize ethical/legal/medical dilemmas and consult appropriate personnel for decisions.
- Provide education tailored to the patient's understanding and document in the patient record.
- Communicate nutritional needs/problems to the physician.
- Ensure continuity of care through the implementation of the Plan of Care.
- Perform medical back office functions including collecting patient histories, vital signs, and scheduling appointments.
- Assist physician in rendering treatment as necessary.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Education, Training, and Experience
- Required: Current LVN License from the State of California, BLS certification.
- Preferred: One or more years of experience in an acute care facility.
Skills or Other Qualifications
- Basic keyboarding skills at 35 WPM.
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Word, and Excel.
- Excellent communication skills; customer-focused; detail-oriented; able to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
- Strong interpersonal skills; able to work in a team environment.
- Proven ability to interface with all customer levels.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
License and Certifications
Required: LVN certification, BLS certification.
