Nexus-Woodbourne is seeking a Behavioral Health Campus Supervisor.
Position Summary:
Our Behavioral Health Campus Supervisor provides trauma-informed campus leadership to youth care professionals through effective communication, organization, and planning of the daily operations of the program/unit.
Pay Rate at $25.00 - $27.00 per hour.
Primary responsibilities:
Program Structure & Supervision
- Assists in the preparation of staff schedules in a timely, proactive manner to ensure adequate staff/resident ratios at all times and to maximize the treatment process and emotional and physical safety of the clients.
- Ensures staff timecards are accurately maintained and approved in a timely manner.
- Assists in the planning and scheduling of the client’s daily treatment services and ensures transportation needs are met, as well as the scheduling of family time and contact, special events, functions, and program trips.
- Provides direct floor coverage and assists in finding replacements during staff absences, emergencies and for on-call coverage, as needed, according to program guidelines.
- Provides on-the-job coaching and mentoring to staff and leads staff in the implementation of individualized responses and interventions, and trauma-informed behavior management techniques.
- Coordinates and ensures that all shift-related client and staff documentation is completed in a timely manner using the proper format, including notifications communicated to leadership, referral agents, and client’s families.
- Assists in the development and establishment of program procedures and systems that contribute to efficient, safe, and effective delivery of treatment services to clients and their families.
- Initiates, identifies and analyzes potential or current problems or risk factors on the program and generates alternative solutions/sound decisions; assists in evaluating long-term changes that support treatment process; strives to understand child and adolescent development, childhood trauma, and family involvement principles to reinforce the fundamentals of quality residential treatment.
- Ensures staff are interacting with clients in a calm, therapeutic, and trauma-informed manner and reinforcing program and client-related decisions and that staff are performing their duties as assigned.
Develops and implements client treatment plans
- Participates in the admission and intake procedures of clients to ensure that they are entering a welcoming and structured environment and that their other admission needs are properly met.
- Ensures the client’s family is welcomed, involved, and provided with information about the program and staff; communicates professionally, empathetically, and respectfully with clients and families.
- Participates in the implementation of individual treatment plans and clients' daily individualized care and provides feedback to the team about treatment goals and intervention revisions.
- Engages, leads, and mentors staff on client group sessions and one-on-one sessions with clients; ensures completion of related appropriate documentation.
- Monitors the delivery of treatment services to clients for proper follow-through within the program and to ensure family inclusion and communication; remains flexible and adaptable to the changing priorities of the program.
- Coordinates services for a client in preparation for successful treatment completion; identifies and communicates special needs, resources, or services required to provide for client and family successful transition and discharge.
- Reinforces the involvement and outreach to client’s families and ensures families are contacted regarding positive treatment accomplishments and incidents as necessary.
Talent Selection, Training & Professional Development
- Assists in the review of applicants and in the interview and selection of staff/team members (Youth Care Professionals), as needed.
- Communicates clearly, professionally, and respectfully when interfacing with staff and clients; willingly shares knowledge, information, and resources.
- Ensures new staff are mentored properly and complete all required shadowing responsibilities; exhibit cooperation and flexibility among team members ensuring all responsibilities are assigned and covered.
- Facilitates (both formally and informally) the development of team skills and knowledge regarding client issues, trauma triggers, treatment plans and individualized interventions, the provision of direct services, trauma-informed behavior management techniques and therapeutic interventions, positive family engagement techniques, compliance regarding documentation standards and the preparation and maintenance of client case files and documentation.
- Provides direct supervision of assigned staff and completes staff evaluations that are strength-based and reflective of staff’s development.
Program and Campus Safety and Monitoring
- Actively participates in and provides input in all staff meetings, program clinical team meetings, clinical supervision sessions and in-services as required.
- Collaborates with coworkers to ensure an emotionally and physically safe environment for clients and one that is also positive, respectful, clean, and therapeutic.
- Models, supports, and mentors the Nexus philosophy and treatment modalities.
- Ensures confidentiality regarding clients and family’s issues, background, and treatment; complies with Nexus policies involving client privacy and confidentiality rules for clients and their families.
- Demonstrates compassion and understanding for feelings, opinions, and experiences of others; communicates and interacts in a manner that is honest, positive, respectful, and professional.
- Models and engages in trauma-informed, strengths-based, therapeutic interventions with clients within training parameters, while maintaining appropriate boundaries.
- Ensures and monitors compliance with safety and health codes and procedures for staff, clients, and the facility.
- Reviews the client medication records during each shift. Conducts regular inspections of program areas; responds to and resolves health and safety concerns within a reasonable time frame.
Trauma-Informed & Strengths Based Treatment Planning
- Remains cognizant of individual client levels/phases, privileges, restrictions, and trauma triggers, and adapts interactions accordingly.
- Reports to supervisor and team members’ signs and symptoms potentially requiring intervention or referral (suicidal or violent tendencies, self-mutilation, eating disorders, traumatic responses, etc.).
- Complies with all documentation standards including, but not limited to, critical incident reporting, informing the family as appropriate.
- Regularly attends and actively participates in staff meetings, positively representing and advocating for the needs of clients (and their families as applicable).
- Interviews, selects and orients staff, ensuring they have the ability to work effectively with families and are able to utilize strengths-based, trauma-informed practices.
- Mentors, trains, and facilitates the development of staff skills and knowledge regarding client issues, individual client’s treatment plans and phases, family goals and engagement, the provision of direct services, behavior management techniques, trauma triggers, compliance regarding Medicaid standards, and the preparation and maintenance of client case files and documentation.
- Assesses staff performance for potential areas for praise, correction, or discipline. Provides performance management for staff on an ongoing basis, conducting formal and informal performance evaluations that are timely and constructive and include a development component. Consults with the Human Resources Department on disciplinary issues.
Program Policy, Procedure, Training & Compliance
- Ensures compliance with all physical and emotional safety policies and procedures involving living areas, buildings, campus grounds, and while attending off-campus activities.
- Maintains thorough understanding and applicable knowledge of all Nexus policies and procedures.
- Performs First Aid/CPR procedures and responds according to established policies and protocols in the event of an emergency or crisis situation; remains calm and uses sound judgement.
Required Education and Licensure:
- High School Diploma or GED plus a minimum of 4 years experience working with youth in a residential treatment facility; OR
- Associates Degree & 2 years minimum experience working with youth in a residential treatment facility; OR
- Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in a social work, psychology, or clinically related field in social services, and minimum of 1 year of related experience with youth in a residential treatment facility.
- Minimum of 1 year of leadership or supervisory experience is required.
- Valid driver’s license required. Must meet state regulating agency and Nexus Home Office driving requirements.
