Position Summary: Lead Educator Full Time 40 Hours
Job Description:
The Nurse Educator sphere of clinical practice influences patient care, nurses’ competencies, nursing practice, and the development of organizational systems. The Nurse Educator demonstrates leadership by inspiring others to give compassionate, remarkable care to improve patient outcomes. The Nurse Educator facilitates the development of critical thinking and skill synthesis and promotes nursing’s contribution to patient outcomes.
Essential Functions:
- Promptly provides clinical support and serves as advisor, mentor, and resource for nurse managers and staff.
- Observes staff and reviews documentation for learning opportunities related to standards of care and practice.
- Advises and supports nursing staff collaboratively to problem-solve clinical and administrative issues.
- Collaborates with Nurse Manager in assigning preceptors and evaluating preceptor performance.
- Assists in the development and maintenance of education for the unit staff from orientation through annual competence.
- Partners with Nurse Managers and/or Clinical Leaders to establish unit-based specialty education, competencies, and certification.
- Assists with the orientation of new staff including participating in monthly Nursing Orientation.
- Provides coaching and education to staff so that they can meet/exceed performance expectations.
- Develops multidisciplinary educational opportunities to enhance patient outcomes.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Education: Graduate of accredited school of nursing required.
- Experience: At least 2 years of current nursing experience preferred.
- Certification/Licensure: Mass Nursing License, BCLS, and ACLS required.
