Job Description
To evaluate cytologic preparations microscopically to determine presence or absence of malignant cells, pre-malignant changes or inflammatory lesions and issue final or provisional diagnosis as appropriate. To include identification and subjective interpretation of disease processes. To handle cytologic specimens including, accessioning, preparation and reporting, following quality control procedures and maintaining documentation. To perform cytopreparatory procedures, including troubleshooting when necessary to ensure consistent results.
Qualifications
High School diploma or GED required. Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement. Currently credentialed with Cytotechnologist (CT) by the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) required.
