GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES:
To ensure routine floor maintenance of all commercial sites within the agency. Work closely with the Custodian Coordinator to perform all necessary duties.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
The following is a summary of the essential functions of this job. The incumbent may perform other duties, both major and minor, that are not mentioned below and essential functions may change from time to time.
- Promote and adhere to all elements of the Agency's CQL outcomes and Core Values and demonstrate knowledge and commitment to the Arc's Mission.
- Ensure protection from abuse, neglect, mistreatment and exploitation in regard to the health, safety, comfort, and well-being for the people we support by adhering to all related policies.
- Perform floor stripping, waxing and buffing.
- Perform maintenance of carpeted areas.
- Supervise and assist building custodians.
- Instruct Custodian I & II on proper usage of cleaning equipment.
- Notify Custodian Coordinator when supplies are running low or problems with equipment arise.
- Secure the building at the end of the work shift.
- Report all damages to the building to immediate supervisor.
- Maintain and service floor cleaning equipment.
- Maintain current knowledge of janitorial related MSDS.
- Dress in a neat and clean manner.
- Promote and adhere to all elements of the Agency's Corporate Compliance and HIPAA.
- Maintain and promote confidentiality in accordance with Agency policies.
- Comply with all aspects of the Agency's Safety protocols.
- Serve on Agency committees as required.
- Attend meetings as dictated by your job responsibilities.
- Attend and complete all mandatory training.
- Adhere to scheduled hours and submit completed timesheets to supervisor on time each payroll period.
QUALIFICATIONS:
The following qualifications are the minimum requirements necessary to perform the essential functions of the job.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Ability to work independently and function as a team member with a wide range of individuals.
- Ability to work flexible schedules which may include evenings and weekends.
- Ability to communicate effectively.
- Thorough knowledge of machines and cleaning chemicals.
- Skills necessary to use machines and apply chemicals properly.
- Good interpersonal skills.
- Normal visual and hearing acuity.
- Good oral and written communication skills.
- Adequate manual dexterity.
- Ability to stand for long periods of time.
- Ability to move furniture, equipment, and supplies as needed.
- Ability to assume awkward positions at times - bending, stooping, etc.
- Ability to access entire Agency (travel to other sites).
- Clean NYS operator's license and ability to operate Agency vehicles.
- Ability to observe work in progress and inspect buildings to verify compliance with cleaning standards.
- Be able to lift, push & pull up to 75 lbs (furniture, equipment, etc.).
Education and Experience
Any combination equivalent to education and experience that provides the required knowledge and skills. Typical qualifications would be equivalent to:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Three (3) years experience in floor stripping and waxing.
