Your Everyday
- Provide primary surgical assistance to the surgeons during the operative procedures.
- Prepare patients for surgery by washing and disinfecting incision sites.
- Use surgical instruments skillfully in ways consistent with their designs and purposes.
- Assure availability of instrumentation and supplies required for the surgical procedure prior to the case.
- Understand and practice principles of sterilization, universal precautions, hazardous materials management to process instruments, equipment and supplies through the stages of decontamination.
- Assist in transporting the patient postoperatively.
- Stay updated on the latest surgical technology, medical terminology, and procedures.
The Must-Haves
- 2 years of related experience
- Surgical Technology Diploma
- Surgical Tech-First Assist certification through The National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA)
