Our Associate Appointment Service Veterinarians work exclusively in the Appointment Service at Mission Animal Hospital, providing education, resources, and guidance to our clients seeking wellness and non-urgent sick pet care.
As the only full-service nonprofit veterinary hospital in the Midwest, Mission serves primarily low-income pet owners, many of whom have not previously had access to quality veterinary care. This position is great for veterinarians looking to truly make a difference in the lives of our clients and their pets by building meaningful relationships and providing quality education and care!
Job Details:
- Full-time, exempt (salaried), benefits-eligible
- Schedule: 4, 10-hour shifts/week, including 2 weekends every 6 weeks

Responsibilities:
- Provide wellness and non-urgent sick pet care via 30 minute appointments
- Exercise good judgment and creative problem-solving in recommending treatment to clients with income limitations
- Cultivate positive relationships with customers and their animals through regular communication and excellent record-keeping
- Educate clients on the importance of vaccinations, heartworm treatments, flea and tick treatments and other aspects of preventive care
- Perform diagnostic tests and x-rays
- Prepare estimates for patient treatment
- Administer medications, vaccines, and treatments
- Observe and make decisions on the behavior and condition of animals
- Provide excellent client education and resources
Qualifications:
- 1+ years experience as a veterinarian preferred
- DVM required
- Ability and willingness to teach, learn, and operate collaboratively in a technician-driven hospital
- Developed communication skills, professionalism, and ability to collaborate with a team
- Commitment to hospital core values of compassionate, accessible care
- No urgent care or surgery experience required!
