The Youth Treatment Specialist embraces working one to three withyouth teaching skills and empowering youth through a 6-month treatmentprogram. Youth treatment specialists provide supervision of the youthand are responsible for implementing the daily schedule of activities.This includes teaching and role modeling skills, providing groupeducational activities, recreational activities, educational support,and serving as role model for youth. Essential Functions: Serve as atreatment specialist in the milieu supporting therapeutic interactionsby coaching skill use throughout daily activities, modeling appropriatebehavior, teaching and reinforcing use and generalization of skillsthrough a token economy system. Use evidence-based best practices foryouth with mental health, substance use and life needs. This includesthe innovative Integrated Treatment Model (ITM) including DialecticalBehavior Therapy (DBT), trauma informed care, motivational interviewing,youth centered, and culturally reverent approaches while celebratingyouth\'s development and identity. Use motivation and engagementstrategies to encourage youth involved in systems such as the Divisionof Youth and Family Services and Department of Children and Families toparticipate in treatment programming and involvement in programactivities. Following safety and suicide protocols and completingrequired checks while youth are sleeping to ensure supervision. Conductroom searches to ensure un-allowed items are not within youth\'spossession. Assist with preparing bedrooms following discharge and newadmissions. Always provide active sight and sound supervision to youthand families with complex needs. Assess youth behavior for risk to selfand others or behavioral changes within the treatment milieu andcommunicate with supervisory and/or clinical staff regarding appropriatesupport as needed. Perform milieu management and coaching with youthexperiencing emotional dysregulation and/or crisis according to theirtreatment plans including one-on-one support for the plan for extrahelp.
