The Jacobs Lab is part of the Athinoula A. Martinos Center for Biomedical Imaging at MGH and focused on improving the early detection and early treatment of Alzheimer’s disease. We are conducting a project on evaluating the potential of a non-invasive neurostimulation method to modulate memory performance and brain activity in older individuals. For this project, we seek to hire a Clinical Research Coordinator II, who will assist with multiple large-scale research projects. The position involves neuropsychological testing, biofluid collection and non-invasive neurostimulation of cognitively normal older adults (aged 60-85). The candidate will report to the Principal Investigator.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Oversee and coordinate the recruitment, enrollment, and testing older adults.
- Order study supplies, schedule study appointments.
- Perform phlebotomy, ship biofluids.
- Aid in creating and maintaining record keeping systems: data collection forms, consent forms, side effect sheets, and case report forms (CRFs).
- Assist the study team in collecting, organizing and maintaining research data, patient files, regulatory binders and study databases.
- Perform data entry of information from CRFs into study databases.
- Assist with 7T imaging and setup of accompanying measurements (physiological measurements, pupil measurements and non-invasive neurostimulation).
- Other responsibilities include serving as an interface among several collaborating lab groups, maintaining participant databases, scoring and assisting with administrative tasks.
SKILLS & COMPETENCIES REQUIRED:
- Proficiency with basic computing packages such as MS Word and Excel.
- Strong interpersonal skills, comfort working with people, and sensitivity towards an older adult population are a must.
- Reliable and respectful of others.
- High level of organization with careful attention to detail, have a strong motivation to learn and comfort with technical skills is required.
- This position requires a high degree of motivation and self-sufficiency, although extensive training and supervision will be provided.
- At least 6 months of experience in cognitive testing.
- Aptitude in basic programming is a plus, but organizational skills are paramount.
EDUCATION:
- Required: Bachelor’s degree required.
- Preferred: Master’s Degree.
Field of Study/additional Specialized Training: B.A/B.S. with background in pre-med, psychology, neuroscience, or related field required.
EXPERIENCE:
Required: Minimum of 1-2 years of directly related experience. At least 6 months of experience in cognitive testing.
Preferred: 1 year experience as a research assistant or in research.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Full-time in-person position at Massachusetts General Hospital - Charlestown Navy Yard (Monday - Friday). In-clinic duties alternated with office work.
