Responsibilities:
- Oversees and coordinates nursing services for Adult Residential Services.
- Oversees medical consultation services.
- Oversees coordination of care between residential and outpatient clinics, integrated health clinics, and outside agencies, and ensures there is a system in place to report any identified issues.
- Ensures comprehensive nursing assessments and care plans are completed at admission, annually, and as needed.
- Oversees medical supply orders.
- Oversees maintenance of assigned vehicles per AltaPointe protocols.
Nurse Delegation Program:
- Oversees training curriculum for employees requiring MAC certification.
- Serves as back up trainer for employees requiring MAC certification if needed.
- Conducts training curriculum for nurses requiring MAS certification.
- Provides update training and remedial training for NDP employees as indicated.
- Follows rules and regulations of the Nurse Delegation Program.
- Administers testing for MAS and MAC certified employees.
- If warranted, provides feedback to delegating MAS nurse on whether to suspend or withdraw delegation of specific tasks to MAC certified employees.
- Reports required NDP data for ABON report on an annual basis.
- Documents training records and maintains NDP files.
- Provides CLIA waived training to NDP employees.
- Conducts reviews of clinical record for NDP documentation.
- Attends statewide NDP meetings.
Programmatic duties:
- Develops and implements training curriculum for ARS Nursing Staff.
- Provides specialized training as needed for ARS employees.
- Attends and participates in meetings as assigned.
- Monitors RL6 data for trends and works with ARS leadership to implement and evaluate change.
- Takes calls from staff about emergencies or critical issues after normal work hours and on weekends.
- Any other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Administers appropriate Human Resources functions:
- Provides positive and effective leadership.
- Is knowledgeable and applies HR policies and procedures on a consistent basis.
- Objectively completes employee performance evaluations and routes to Human Resources department.
- Provides staff with consultation and supervision as needed.
- Completes time and attendance function bi-weekly within set timeframe given by payroll department.
- Interviews nursing applicants and completes necessary forms as outlined by Human Resources policy and procedures.
Supervision and Consultation:
- Seeks clinical supervision and consultation needs.

- Follows AltaPointe Policy & Procedures.
- Adheres to professional code of ethics.
- Maintains current state license and requirements for renewals (i.e. CEU’s), and attends the required in-services and workshops.
Qualifications:
- RN license to practice in the State of Alabama; Knowledge in psychiatric nursing, educational and training issues, outlined below, to be attained within six (6) months of employment:
- Knowledge of the Alabama Nurse Delegation Program (NDP).
- Medication Assistant Supervising (MAS) nurse certification through DMH and Alabama Board of Nursing.
- Possesses Medication Assistant Train the Trainer (MATT) certification (within 12 months of employment).
- Basic knowledge of Medical Terminology.
- Knowledge of general and psychiatric nursing care.
- Familiarity of psychopharmacology and the use of psychotropic medications with the adult population.
- Knowledge of behavior management, crisis intervention and interventions common to acute psychotic residents as well as to non-violent crisis intervention practice.
- Knowledge of cultural diversity.
- Knowledge of psychiatric disorders in the adult population.
- Knowledge of educational methods appropriate both for staff and adults with severe and persistent psychiatric disorders.
- Knowledge of all applicable standards.
- Knowledge of utilizing electronic health record.
