Qualifications
RN Nurse Navigator Job Requirements:
- Graduate of an accredited or NLN-approved RN program.
- BSN preferred
- Three to five years of operating room experience, including a working knowledge of all surgical specialties.
- Current American Heart Association BLS Certification
- Current American Heart Association ACLS Certification
- Current American Heart Association PALS Certification
- CNOR certification preferred
- Current Florida nursing license.
- Must successfully pass any pre-employment assessment(s) required by the facility.
Role and Responsibilities
Provides safe, competent nursing care for patients in accordance with facility policies, standards and philosophy. Provides professional leadership and support to the healthcare team. The concepts of Patient Centered Care will provide the foundation for all nursing activities. Demonstrates Service Excellence standards at all times.
The RN specialty coordinator plans, organizes, teaches, performs and supervises the specialized nursing care in all phases of the peri-operative period. He/she is responsible for providing the patients and the physician’s with optimal surgical services in a cost effective manner. The RN specialty coordinator assumes responsibility of a specific surgical service, i.e. neuro, ortho, ENT, urology etc, and ensures all equipment, supplies, instruments and any other items specific to the service are available and ready for surgery. The specialty coordinator is responsible for the creating, maintenance and updating of the surgeon preference cards specific to their specialty, and assisting with the orientation and training of new staff members to their specific surgical service. The RN specialty coordinator also oversees the surgical technician specialty coordinator and assumes charge nurse responsibilities if necessary. Must be willing to cross train and float to meet the needs of the institution. Performs on call duties as required and necessary.
