The position works in close collaboration with the mobile vaccine response team members, members of the Immunization Branch, Vaccine Preventable Disease Investigations & Response Team, and other members of the CD-IMMS Section to support vaccination efforts to mitigate the risk of large or disruptive vaccine-preventable disease outbreaks in under-immunized communities and to provide rapid vaccination (post-exposure prophylaxis) in settings where risk of exposure to a confirmed case is high. This position is based in the Chinook Building in Downtown Seattle however the incumbent will support vaccination clinics in non-traditional settings such as shelters, homes, places of worship, and community centers throughout King County. Populations of focus include people experiencing homelessness and newly arrived immigrants seeking asylum. The incumbent will report to the Healthcare and VPD Outbreak Response Team Manager in the Immunization Branch of the Communicable Disease & Immunization (CD-Imms) section of the Prevention Division.

This position offers an exciting opportunity to build upon the strong foundation that’s been established during the COVID-19 pandemic to improve adult vaccination coverage levels in King County, focusing on our most vulnerable residents. Our Immunization Teams conducts a variety of educational programs on immunization for children and adults. Additionally, they provide training and education to healthcare professionals across King County.
Temporary opportunity. Term-Limited Temporary positions are "at-will" positions but are eligible for benefits. This TLT is currently anticipated to last through
December 31, 2025. However, funding sources for this work remain uncertain and dependent upon decisions actively being made at both the federal and local levels. As a result, the end date of this position may be adjusted based on those decisions. The County and the Department continue to work to secure long term funding sources.

- Overseeing all aspects of vaccine storage and handling;
- Medical record management, documentation, and billing.
Clinical support:- Conduct clinical screening for immunizations.
- Perform vaccine preparation.
- Administer vaccines to clients in community settings such as homeless service sites, low-income senior housing, and faith-based organizations.
- Perform other clinical duties as assigned to support operational needs.
Vaccine storage and handling:- Assure cold chain is maintained in compliance with vaccine manufacturers and Department of Health (DOH) guidelines.
- Support team to monitor vaccine storage unit temperatures on a daily basis.
- Condition portable storage units before vaccine clinics, and transport vaccines to and from mobile vaccination clinics.
Medical record management and documentation:- Utilize Windows-based software and an electronic health record system (EPIC) to perform daily intake of immunization screening and consent forms and accurately enter data that include complex text, numbers and medical terminology into EPIC.
- Support Health Information Management (HIM) operations at the vaccination clinic site as needed.
Required:- Medical Assistant Certification (C-MA) with Washington Department of Health
- Documentation of current Basic Life Support (BLS) CPR certification with AED training required at time of hire. CPR/AED Heartsaver courses do not meet this requirement.
- Valid Washington State Driver’s License and ability to travel throughout King County
- Skilled at organizing, prioritizing, multi-tasking and adapting to changes in workload demands and successfully meeting deadlines under strict time constraints without compromising accuracy.
- Skilled in the use of office equipment (e.g., multi-line telephone, fax machine, scanner, copier, and printer).
- Strong customer focus with a dedication to integrity, ethics, trust, and values.
- Skilled working in Electronic Practice Management systems that include health records, patient scheduling, and financial transactions.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a collaborative, team-centered environment.
- Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality of protected health information at all times.
- Demonstrated knowledge and ability to comply with HIPAA, Federal and State regulatory principles and guidelines.
- Proficiency and ease in using Microsoft Office applications (SharePoint, Outlook, Word, Excel).
- Demonstrated ability to move up to 50 pounds in order to transport vaccine equipment (e.g., coolers) and clinic supplies. This may involve intermittent lifting, standing stooping, bending and reaching during the course of the work day.
- Strong organization skills and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Desired Qualifications- A basic understanding of vaccine preventable diseases and immunizations.
- Understanding of and familiarity with homeless and human services and affordable housing in King County.
- Bilingual skills, such as, Spanish, French, and Portuguese.
- Skilled in trauma-informed care and motivational interviewing techniques.
- Lived or professional experience working with people experiencing homelessness and/or newly arrived immigrants seeking asylum.
