Job Summary and Qualifications
The Licensed Practical Nurse/Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN/LPN) delivers high quality, patient-centered care by performing a variety of delegated basic patient care services. In collaboration with the RN and other members of the care team, the LPN/LVN provides individualized, comprehensive care consistent with the scope and standards of the specialty.
Essential Functions include but are not limited to:
- Prepares patients for examination and treatment.
- Takes patient histories and vital signs.
- Prepares exam and treatment rooms with necessary instruments.
- Prepares and maintains supplies and equipment for treatments.
- Assists physicians in preparing for physicals.
- Reports pertinent information concisely.
- Completes accurate, timely documentation, appropriately using computer charting/ordering.
- Applies critical thinking skills and considers alternatives.
- Organizes and prioritizes multi-task workload.
- Assists in stocking supplies and linen.
- Assists with scheduling of tests and treatments.
- Screens telephone calls for referral to physician.
- Provides general information on departmental policies and procedures.
- Compiles and condenses technical and statistical data for reports and records.
- Attends required meetings and participates in committees as requested.
- Participates in professional development activities and maintains professional affiliations.
- Maintains patient confidentiality.
- Performs clerical duties as needed including scheduling, insurance verification and chart maintenance and preparation.
- Communicates effectively with physicians, other providers, patients and families.
- Promotes internal and external customer satisfaction.
- Builds and promotes a culture of service excellence and continuous improvement.
- Attendance: works as scheduled and is compliant with Attendance and Tardiness Policy.
What qualifications you will need:
Required: Licensed Practical Nurse Licensure, American Heart Association BCLS; six months clerical /technical experience.
Preferred: Computer skills with Microsoft Office, Electronic Health Record, knowledge of Medical Insurance certification and recertification; one year of experience in a physician practice.
