Nemours is seeking a Pediatric Audiologist Staff I (Full-Time) to join our Nemours Children's Health team in Orlando, Florida.
Primary locations will be Downtown Orlando and Lake Mary. Will be required to cover both locations.

Provides comprehensive audiometric pediatric services including hearing evaluations, patient examination, evaluation, intervention, documentation, patient/parent/caretaker education, communication and coordination of care with medical/clinical staff and outside agencies as appropriate with the guidelines designated by the department and Nemours Children's Hospital. Actively participates in departmental education activities in order to expand knowledge of patient populations and evidence-based practice.
Responsibilities
- Administer age-appropriate audiological pediatric evaluations including middle ear analysis, otoacoustic emissions, VRA, CPA and traditional behavioral threshold evaluations in accordance with established protocols with appropriate counseling regarding evaluation results and recommendations for treatment, intervention, follow-up, and referral.
- Conduct hearing aid evaluations, BAHA evaluations, cochlear implant evaluation, selection, programming, dispensing, electroacoustic/behavioral verification, follow-up, orientation, and counseling. Additional responsibilities include earmold impressions, modifications, troubleshooting, in-office repairs and recommending/fitting assistive listening devices.
- Perform sedated and non-sedated Auditory Evoked Potentials.
- Demonstrate proficiency in the care of neonates, pediatrics and adolescents for both inpatient and outpatient populations.
- Monitor audiological patients exposed to ototoxic drugs in hematology, oncology, and nephrology with appropriate follow-up.
- Administer auditory processing evaluations as appropriate.
- Evaluate patients for hearing difficulties, impairments and make appropriate recommendations to physicians, families, schools, and community agencies for follow-up care.
- Independently provide and coordinate age-appropriate treatment plans and treatment in routine patient care situations.
- Consult with other services, families and outside agencies to recommend equipment, home or school modifications, therapy, etc.
- Attend meetings related to patient treatment and contribute to discussion as an interdisciplinary team member.
- Maintain appropriate state licensure, certification and continuing education as required.
- Maintain high professional standards of conduct and adhere to Customer Service Standards of Performance.
- Complete timely documentation as required by departmental policy, JCAHO, and CARF standards.
Job Requirements
- Doctorate Degree in Audiology or its equivalent from an accredited university required (Audiologists graduating prior to 2007 may hold a Master's Degree in Audiology).
- Minimum of 1-3 years experience in clinical audiology, preferably in pediatrics, to include internship and externship placements.
- Must hold or be eligible for Florida State License to practice Audiology.
- American Heart Association BLS Certification required within 6 months of hire.
- Member of professional specialty organizations (AAA, ASHA, Florida Academy of Audiology etc.), preferred.
- Familiarity with assessment scales and instrument, techniques of assessment and intervention with pediatric populations.
- Clinical internship in pediatrics preferred.
- Experience with physically and or mentally challenged populations preferred.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong electrophysiological background including ABR, VEMP and VNG testing.
