Supervisor Anesthesia - Anesthesia Operating Room

Summary:
Provides direct supervision in the acquiring, preparing and use of equipment and supplies during the administration of anesthesia. Oversees the maintenance of anesthesia equipment, i.e. setting up, calibrating, cleaning, and performing minor repairs. Oversees assigned activities to the department to ensure quality, productivity, and performance expectations are met. Coordinates orientation, training, and scheduling of anesthesia technician personnel. Monitors the productivity and effectiveness of the Anesthesia Technician positions. Upholds the mission, vision, values and customer service standards of The MetroHealth System.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or passage of a high school equivalency exam.
- Experience in Perioperative protocols (i.e. sterile technique and field avoidance).
- Two years experience in clinical anesthesia, allied health, nursing, military medical support, or sterile processing.
- Successful completion of Basic Life Support (BLS).
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrated PC proficiency.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and lead a team.
- Knowledge of medical terminology.
- Ability to use electronic devices in the Perioperative environment including laptop, desktop and mobile devices.
- Ability to interact effectively with a wide range of cultural, ethnic, racial and socioeconomic backgrounds.
Preferred:
- Five years experience in clinical anesthesia, allied health, nursing, or military medical support.
- Leadership/supervisory experience.
- Certified Anesthesia Technologist (Cer.A.T.T.)
- Graduate of an American Society of Anesthesia Technologists and Technicians (ASATT) approved educational program.
- College level coursework in biology and/or chemistry.
- Lean or equivalent process improvement experience.
Physical Demands:
- May need to move around intermittently during the day, including sitting, standing, stooping, bending, and ambulating.
- May need to remain still for extended periods, including sitting and standing.
- Ability to communicate in face-to-face, phone, email, and other communications.
- Ability to read job related documents.
- Ability to use computer.
