What’s the job?
The Quality Lab Technician leads and supports activities related to the implementation, maintenance, control, and monitoring of quality systems and standards which monitor, assess, and approve the quality of materials and products at all stages of production, in accordance with corporate quality policies, applicable regulatory requirements, and customer specifications/expectations.
Under the general direction of the Regional Quality Manager, the Quality Lab Technician has direct responsibility for implementing, maintaining and facilitating quality system improvements. Quality systems which may be under the responsibility of this position are receiving, in-process & final inspection/testing/release, product auditing, product certification, calibration, complaint handling, CAPA, and nonconforming material control/handling.
Lead and/or support the development, implementation, and oversight of an effective Quality Management System that operates in compliance with corporate quality policies and procedures, and relevant regulatory requirements and industry guidance, including:
- Support of in-process & final inspection/testing/release, product auditing, product certifications, and packaging/labeling.
- Coordination of CAPA process for nonconformance and complaints, including investigation, CAPA development/implementation, and conducting effectiveness checks.
- Coordination of nonconforming material control/handling, including containment, investigation, rework, and disposition.
- Receiving, review, and release of incoming raw materials and resolution of supplier corrective action requests.
- Calibration and maintenance, including quality oversight of these activities.
- Assigned to review/approve changes, revise controlled documents, initiate change controls, review customer specifications, implement CAPAs and conduct training.
- Drive and support resolution of customer and business unit requests.
- Support the oversight of development activities, such as product/specification development, tech transfer, validation, process capability, facilities/utilities/equipment qualification, and materials management.
- Support outside audits and continuous improvement.
- May conduct production oversight/testing activities, including in-process and final product dimensional/attribute inspections/testing, line clearance verifications, trials, review of production records, COA’s, product release and CoC generation.
- May assist with supplier quality management by completing supplier questionnaires, maintaining vendor files, conducting supplier audits, and fulfilling customer requests.
Hours: Monday-Friday 8:00am - 5:00pm
Required Qualifications
What do you bring?
- 3 – 5 years of experience in a quality role within a manufacturing environment.
- 5 – 8 years of experience in roofing manufacturing or construction building products preferred.
- Associates Degree in related field preferred.
- Knowledge of and experience in quality systems, such as ISO 9001, cGMP, and ISO 13485 required.
- Proficient computer skills required, including Microsoft Word, Excel, Visio, PPT, and Project required.
- Training in Six Sigma/continuous improvement methodologies preferred.
- Attention to detail, analytical skills, problem-solving, time management, and communication skills vital.
