To our prospective teammates,
I’m the system medical director for our four Intensivist programs within the St David’s Health System located in Austin, TX. I’ve been a part of Sound Medical Group for just over three years, joining the group in July of 2020 to help establish our first ICU programs in Austin at St David’s Round Rock and North Austin. Due to success at those sites, we expanded to St David’s Med Center and Heart Hospital of Austin in February of 2021. I’m proud of the critical care practice we’ve built and welcome interest from practicing Critical Care NP’s and PA’s desiring a career change to explore an opportunity with our group.
I’d like to share more about who we are and what we do — specifically about our people, practice, and purpose — as you consider your options:
People
- We’re a closely knit, established team of four Intensivists and two advanced practice providers.
- Our team is comprised of clinicians from diverse geographic, educational, and training backgrounds who lean on and learn from each other in their approach to patient care.
- Within the hospital, we work closely with our colleagues in other departments to ensure smooth transition of care. Many of us are active in community health initiatives through the hospital.
Practice
- This is a full-time nocturnist position at St David’s Medical Center.
- The coverage model at each of our St David’s ICU’s entails day Physicians with NP/PA covering the ICU overnight from 7p-7a. There is always an Intensivist available telephonically.
- St David’s Medical Center is a comprehensive stroke center and referral center for neurosurgery. We have a med/surg ICU with a bed Neurocritical Care Unit. In a typical night shift, the APP is responsible for admissions and procedures.
- We have excellent relationships with consulting services like IR, Neurology, and Anesthesia.
- New ECMO program at St David’s Med Center.
- NP/PA’s work autonomously, admitting patients to the ICU and performing procedures (arterial lines, central lines, and intubations). We are looking for NP/PA’s with at least 1 year of critical care experience in the scope of ACNP or PA.
- Flexible schedule – we are open to a 7 on 14 off schedule.
- Benefits include medical, dental, vision, life and AD&D insurance, long- and short-term disability, 401k, paid medical malpractice and tail coverage, and annual CME allowance.
Purpose
- We put patients first. Always.
- We value and support growth and development in our hospital medicine practice, allowing you to explore new opportunities locally and within the broader medical group.
- We’re a community-minded team and support involvement and contributions to community health and wellness in and out of the hospital.
