The Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at the University of South Alabama Frederick P. Whiddon College of Medicine invites applications for multiple tenure-track/tenured faculty positions at the rank of assistant, associate, or full professor. We seek committed and compassionate scientists with expertise in biochemistry and/or molecular biology. Successful candidates must hold a PhD, MD, MD/PhD, or DVM/PhD degree, be committed to medical and graduate student education, and have a strong record of research productivity. Applicants holding the rank of associate or full professor must have current research support.
The department has diverse research programs focused on the molecular basis of cancer, lung biology/disease, metabolism, genetic variants, and cardiovascular disease. The department can offer a competitive start-up package, along with excellent laboratory space in the Medical Sciences Building and USA Health Mitchell Cancer Institute. Interdisciplinary interactions with basic, translational, and clinical investigators in the Whiddon College of Medicine, the Center for Lung Biology, and the Mitchell Cancer Institute are encouraged.
