Northwest Orthopaedic Specialists is looking for a Pre-op/PACU Registered Nurse to support our growing Ambulatory Surgery Center. The Pre-op/PACU RN is responsible for providing safe and quality nursing care, ensuring a comfortable and confident visit for each patient. This position will utilize the nursing process and works collaboratively with a team to deliver medical care that is consistent with patient needs, standards of nursing practice, legal regulations and ASC policies and procedures. The Perioperative RN utilizes clinical judgment and skill to be accountable for the total nursing care of assigned patients in the perioperative process. This job description encompasses all perioperative nursing care at The Orthopaedic Surgery Center; department/area specific requirements are defined by nursing competencies.
NWOS is closed all weekends and major holidays. No night shifts or on-call.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Provide direct nursing care in conformance with company policies and procedures and ASC standards while advocating/utilizing the nursing process and evidenced based practice.
- Exert independent judgment in care of assigned patient, maintaining awareness that errors in judgment may result in serious consequences.
- Accept responsibility for the welfare of assigned patients even in critical and life threatening conditions.
- Utilize the nursing process in providing care in order to promote a positive and uneventful perioperative experience.
- Recognize the need for and perform appropriate emergency life saving measures when applicable.
- Maintain a patient-centered mentality and the confidentiality of patient information at all times.
- Observe patients, record significant conditions and reactions, and notify supervisor or physician of patient’s condition and relation to drugs, treatments and other significant incidents.
- Provides physical safety for the patient per department specific competencies and procedures.
- Monitor, evaluate, and adjust patient care according to patient responses.
- Participate in a collaborative effort with other nursing/medical staff to structure patient care.
- Plan nursing interventions based on individual patient needs, surgical procedures and standard plans of care.
- Maintain knowledge regarding own responsibilities in ASC Disaster Plan and assist with the direction of staff and patients to function according to the plan.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Associates Degree in Nursing (or higher) required
- Basic Life Support (BLS) required
- Valid WA Registered Nurses license
SHIFT:
- Day shift. No nights, no weekends, on-call, or major holidays.

Wage: $36.50 to $58.40
