Schedule: Monday through Friday 8:30am to 5:00pm
Participates as a team member in the implementation of the nursing process in collaboration with the Registered Nurse. Responsible and accountable for a group of patients spanning all ages, cultures, and disability concerns for a designated time frame. Functions within policies, practice guidelines, and nursing standards of Sturdy Memorial Hospital in accordance with the Massachusetts Nurse Practice Act, CDC and OSHA standards, and any other applicable regulatory or accreditation agency. Assists with training, onboarding, and professional development efforts of new and/or existing clinical team members including Medical Assistants. Mentors office staff and facilitates team development.
Required Skills/Qualifications/Training/Experience:
- Experienced Clinical Nursing skills
- Demonstrated ability to interact with patients in promoting an excellent and safe patient experience
- Ability to measure, document, and monitor vitals, weight, and height
- Ability to obtain a basic medical history including chief complaint, medication history, social history, and family history
- Knowledge and understanding to appropriately triage patients
- Establishes excellent rapport with patients including patient education
- Ability to prepare patients for all types of visits and in-office procedures using the appropriate medical supplies
- Ability to communicate patient’s health and behavioral status to providers
- Maintains a safe and healthy environment for patients and co-workers by following standards and procedures
- Demonstrates necessary functions to maintain continuity of care for patients
- Knowledge and experience of administering medications/immunizations
- Extensive clinical knowledge to assist patient questions over the phone and in-person
- Manage patient issues including the appropriate triage of questions and concerns around medical conditions
- Ability to handle difficult patient interactions with ease
Education/Training:
- Graduate of a Licensed Practical Nurse Program
Licenses/Certification:
- Current Massachusetts licensure
- BLS competent
- Unit/Specialty specific certifications
