The UAMS Winthrop P. Rockefeller Cancer Institute (WPRCI) mobile mammography program has been in place for more than 10 years. WPRCI is committed to decreasing breast cancer-related illness, disability, and death in Arkansas through screening and early detection. The focus of the program is on improving cancer screenings and education around the state with particular attention to our rural underserved counties. This position requires travel with multiple overnight stays each month. Sometimes trip schedules include departures/arrivals after hours or on weekends. The position also requires obtaining a commercial driver’s license (CDL) in order to drive the van as needed.
Summary of Job Duties:
- Performs high quality screening and diagnostic breast imaging exams, including mammography and breast ultrasounds.
- Explains procedures to patients, positions patients and equipment, reviews previous records to determine correct studies are performed.
- Maintains and operates specialized radiologic equipment.
- Communicates mammography exam procedures to patients and enlists patient cooperation in positioning for radiological examination.
- Provides patient education regarding mammography and breast health.
- Assists with records management and scheduling appointments.
- Obtains patient history and enters into Electronic Medical Records (EMR).
- Schedules exams and reviews previous records to ensure correct studies are performed.
- Ensures exams are completed and images are in Picture Archiving and Communication (PACS) systems.
- Enrolls patients in BreastCare Program as appropriate.
- Drives mobile mammography van to events; sets up equipment and van.
- Maintains knowledge of breast procedures through continuing education and professional development.
- Completes other duties as requested.
Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School Diploma/GED; Graduation from an approved Radiology program.
- Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) in Mammography.
- Licensed by the State of Arkansas in Radiology.
- Must obtain an AR commercial driver’s license within 1 year of hire.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Two (2) Years / Associate Degree – Radiology.
- One (1) year experience in Diagnostic Radiology Technologist/Mammography.
Salary Information: Commensurate with education and experience.
