Nurse Practitioners or Physician Assistants
Essential duties and responsibilities:
A prestigious neurosurgery private practice with an academic affiliation and offices in Eatontown, NJ is seeking to add two Nurse Practitioners or Physician Assistants to their team. Work alongside thoughtful, experienced neurosurgeons in the hospital and operating room, as well as in the office setting. Generous orientation/training offered. Enjoy graduated autonomy throughout all aspects of highly-specialized patient care: providing surgical consultations, ordering/interpreting imaging of the brain and spine, and pre-/post-operative care.

Overall, the practitioner will provide patient care and contribute to the Attending Physicians’ effectiveness by:
- Perform Emergency department and in-patient consultations
- Assessing patient health by obtaining health history and performing physical examinations
- Evaluate neurosurgical conditions by ordering diagnostic tests including: x-rays, CT scans, MRIs, laboratory studies, etc. and interpreting and communicating test results
- Communicate with patients, families, nursing staff and other services in order to effectively implement attending physician directives
- Perform therapeutic procedures such as suturing and wound management as well as assisting in the operating room.
- Issue appropriate prescriptions and medications during hospitalization and for discharge as necessary
- Document patient care services by charting in patient and department records.
- Monitor patient progress during the hospital admission including surgeries, treatments or other medical events
- Inform the attending physician to any problems or discrepancies that may arise
- Instruct and counsel patients on neurosurgical conditions and therapeutic regimens while in the hospital and in preparation for discharge
- Independently perform office consultations and follow up visits
Requirements: NJ License, and at least 1 year of experience in a hospital setting.
