Job Description - Medical Assistant- Part-Time- South (3304701)
Position serving Brigham & Women's Hospital service area
In order to meet the timely needs for care of patients admitted to Home Hospital, the Medical Assistant will be an integral part of the Healthcare at Home care team. Home Hospital is a new and innovative care delivery model, where patients receive hospital level care, right in their homes.
Schedule: 24 hours - 12 hour Days 9:00 AM - 9:00 PM
Reporting to the Executive Director of Nursing, the Medical Assistant will work together with nurses, paramedics, physicians, physician assistants, and nurse practitioners to provide care and service to patients. The Medical Assistant will be expected to have working knowledge of the Healthcare at Home care model and support the patient, clinical staff, and other members of the care team in providing patients with care as efficiently as possible.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Active participation in patient care including anticipatory preparation, obtaining vital signs, performing phlebotomy, conducting EKGs, and other relevant procedures.
- Assist patients with visit needs, as applicable.
- Support patient care and the healthcare team by expediting care during visits.
- Demonstrate a strong sense of shared responsibility, maintaining supplies and equipment for the field team.
- Share responsibility for quality, safety, and laboratory check systems in the clinical environment.
- Monitor and arrange for restocking of supplies as needed.
- Assist with pre-admission and post-visit follow-up calls as needed.

LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS, and/or REGISTRATIONS:
Current Basic CPR certification required.
EDUCATION:
- Minimum of high school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
- Graduate of an MGH approved Medical Assistant program required.
EXPERIENCE:
6-12 months Medical Assistant experience preferred.
