Job Summary:
The Providence Center Mobile Crisis On-Call Peer Support Specialist Per Diem will provide recovery coaching in the community and within client homes accompanied by a mobile crisis clinician during behavioral health crises.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide recovery coaching for individuals in the community and family members.
- Adhere to on-call scheduling nature of role and subsequently respond in-person accompanied by a clinician who will be conducting crisis assessments.
- Minimum requirement of 2 shifts per month.
- Respond within one-hour to in-person referrals initiated by after-hours call staff.
- Treat consumers with respect.
- Perform in a calm and professional manner during crisis or emergency situations.
- Maintain confidentiality in accordance with Center policy and legal requirements.
- Advocate for the needs of each individual.
- Locate, track and provide services to individuals who are in need of support for their drug and alcohol use, including referrals to detox, food/clothing, housing, medication-assisted treatment, residential programs, and counseling.
- Collaborate with other providers, agencies, and individuals in the consumers' network of care.
- Maintain knowledge and familiarity of mental health and/or substance abuse and other related community agencies.
- Communicate with various local agencies and individuals, as well as with Center staff.
- Perform record keeping in accordance with Health Information Services and other TPC requirements.
- Attend trainings, case presentations and conferences.
- Participate in the education of other Center staff.
- Attend mandatory in-service trainings and other trainings required for renewal of licensure.
- Maintain cooperative relationships with Center staff, consumers, community agencies and the public.
Requirements:
- Associate degree or higher preferred; High School diploma or GED required.
- RI State certified Recovery Coach or plan to complete this within first year.
- Understanding of community resources and recovery-oriented systems of care model.
- Minimum requirement of 2 shifts per month.
- Insured auto and valid driver's license.
- Candidate must demonstrate an understanding of, and belief in, the addiction recovery process.
- Must be a person with lived recovery experience, with minimum 2 years of continuous recovery.
- Must be 21 or older.
- Knowledge of basic crisis intervention, motivational interviewing, and some case management techniques required.
- Ability to act as an advocate for the needs of the participant is required.
