Summary: Specializes in assessment and treatment of speech and language problems, and engages in speech and language intervention services for students.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Reviews student files to obtain information prior to evaluation to determine appropriate tests and to ensure that adequate information is available.
- Administers, scores, and interprets specialized hearing and speech tests.
- Diagnoses and evaluates speech and language skills as related to educational factors and completes MET reports. Evaluates and monitors individuals.
- Attends MET, IEP and/or IFSP meetings.
- Develops and implements individualized plans for assigned students to meet individual needs, interests, and abilities.
- Provides individual and small group speech and language intervention.
- Reviews treatment plan, and assesses individual performance to modify, change, or write new programs.
- Models language facilitation techniques in home, daycare, preschool and community sites, providing training on language learning activities.
- Maintains records as required by law and administrative regulations.
- Acts as consultant to educational, medical, and other professional groups.
- Serves as consultant to classroom teachers to incorporate speech and language development activities into daily schedule.
- Regular and consistent attendance.
- Other duties as assigned.
Must have knowledge of and comply with the policies and procedures contained in the Kalamazoo RESA handbook.
Education and/or Experience: Master’s degree (M.A. or M.S.) in Speech and Language. Preferred experience in Early Childhood setting.
Certificates, License, Registration: Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) from American Speech, Language and Hearing Association, license in Michigan.

Supervisory Responsibilities: This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
