Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) - Highlands Ranch
National Jewish Health is seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join our collaborative and positive healthcare team at the Highlands Ranch Office. Position Summary
To deliver safe and appropriate nursing care within scope of practice and established policies and procedures. Administers allergen immunotherapy, as well as biologic injections and immunizations. Responsible for monitoring for antigen expiration dates, ordering new antigens, assisting in obtaining insurance authorization of biologic injections.
- Provides safe and appropriate patient care within scope of practice and established policies and procedures.
- Accurately administers allergen immunotherapy, biologic injections, and immunizations. Assures accuracy by: appropriately identifying the correct patient; agent, dose, route, and day. Monitors patients' condition by observing, collecting, reporting, and recording objective/subjective data; identifies changes in the patient's condition; collects data and reports signs and symptoms of deviation from normal health status, symptoms, and/or reactions to medications and treatments; initiates appropriate standard emergency procedures and reports adverse patient conditions to physician or registered nurse.
- Supports physicians and other medical providers in the care and treatment of patients, including rooming the patient; communicating delays to patient, provider, and team members; and facilitating the medical providers' schedule. Utilizes departmental processes of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation to provide continuing health care to individuals and families.
- Records pertinent information in patients' medical charts, e.g., patients' nursing history, physical data, vital signs, symptoms, treatments, examinations, medications administered, reactions, and general observations, according to standard requirements.
- Provides appropriate education to patients/families utilizing effective teaching skills and National Jewish supportive materials.
- Assists in orienting and training new employees, as assigned. May perform the duties of a Nursing Assistant, Medical Assistant, or Medical Receptionist, as required.
- Implements care and services that recognize age-specific needs and issues for customers served.
Minimum Qualifications
- Education: High School Diploma or equivalent preferred. Graduation from an Accredited LPN Program required.
- Work Experience: A minimum of one (1) year of recent and related experience preferred.
- Special Training, Certification or Licensure: Current Colorado LPN license required. CPR/BLS required. IV certification may be required.
Salary Range: $25.00 - $34.00
