We are currently hiring for our brand new camp location in New Jersey's Garden State camp which is located at Camp Shiloh in Hewitt, NJ. We will be serving kids with intellectual disabilities in the greater New York / New Jersey area.
We are looking to grow our Direct Support Professional staff with great people to work weekends caring for children with special needs so that their parents and caregivers get time to focus on renewing themselves, their families, and their marriages. Although we do not run every weekend, there are many weekends throughout the year available for you to join us (frequency varies). If you are 18 or older and love kids with special needs, we have part-time weekend positions available. We will also have weekday shifts starting in June for our summer camps.
The Direct Support Professional joins us all weekend at camp from Friday to Sunday and is responsible for:
- The guidance and supervision of the children to whom they are assigned.
- Performing a combination of basic care, assistance with activities of daily living and activity guidance duties in a safe, nurturing environment.
Location: Camp Shiloh in Hewitt, New Jersey.
Time Commitment: Friday at 5:00 PM until Sunday at 2:00 PM
Camps Currently Held: Camps are currently held 3 weekends a year.
The Overnight Direct Support Professional at our Garden State camp would stay inside a cabin with at most 8-10 campers:
- Complete bed checks every hour
- Assist with activities of daily living- such as toileting and showers
- Ensure safety of all campers during the night
- Assist Friday night with check-in.
Minimum Requirements and Qualifications:
- Be at least 18 and be a high school graduate or GED.
- At least three months successful experience in working directly with children.
- Patience, good oral and written communication skills.
- Great team skills, willingness to learn and grow.
- Passion for working with children, physical strength, and stamina to participate in camp activities.
- Affirm the McLean Bible Church Vision and Values statement as well as abide by the Standards of Christian Conduct. (see attached)
