JOB PURPOSE:
Performs physical exams for evidence of peripheral vascular disease. Performs noninvasive testing for evidence of peripheral vascular disease including but not limited to: arterial, venous, abdominal, visceral, intracranial and extracranial cerebral vascular disease and prepares preliminary interpretation of test results.
- KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Vascular Ultrasound
- Act in compliance with the legal rules and regulations applicable to the position
- Ability to perform various ultrasound tests including cerebrovascular, upper extremity arterial, upper extremity venous, abdominal visceral duplex, lower extremity arterial duplex, dialysis access, TCD, venous reflux, vein mapping, and ultrasound guidance during procedures
- Perform physical exams for evidence of peripheral vascular disease
- Perform patient evaluations and exams per protocol
- Document and maintain test data and prepare preliminary interpretations of test results
- Assist the Physician in treating varicose veins and saphenous venous insufficiency
- Assist in developing safe and effective treatment plans
- Assist in explaining treatment plans to patients
- Assist in setup and cleanup of procedure rooms and ultrasound rooms
- Quality
- Develop, monitor, and update a Vascular Lab quality tracking resource
- Monitor patient care delivery and compliance with protocols
- Follow accreditation guidelines for quality patient care
- Participate in accreditation maintenance activities
- Develop and maintain personal skills through education and interaction with other technologists
- Operations Support
- Provide vascular ultrasound support at multiple centers
- Maintain equipment and supply inventory
- Work with providers to ensure efficient patient care
- Participate in practice building activities
Qualifications:
MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIRED:
Registered as a Vascular Technologist (RVT) or Vascular Sonographer (RVS)
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
3 years of progressive work experience in vascular services.
MINIMUM LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION REQUIRED BY LAW:
Certificate of Completion from an accredited Ultrasound Program
